Is there a certain someone you've got your eye on and want to know if the feeling is reciprocated? Is this person gazing longingly into your eyes or just checking out the drink prices behind your head?
To avoid any unnecessary and quite frankly awkward situations, there are in fact a few ways you can tell if someone likes you or not. We've piled together some of the best ways to know if they really are interested or not.
1.) Talk that talk
It’s important to pay attention to your conversations with the person in question. If they first of all show an interest in talking to you (always a good start), do they make an effort to keep that conversation going? If they ask questions about you and your life and look vaguely interested you might be off to a great start.
If they’re looking uninterested, distracted and like they’re about to use the all-important fake call function on their phone, you might want to cancel the wedding you’ve been planning for the past week.
If someone likes you or is interested in impressing you, their behaviour will change almost instantly as soon as they see that you’re around. This may be in the form of a newly found bellowing voice or a Santa-style laugh in an attempt to be the centre of attention among their friends.
This doesn’t necessarily mean they’re an attention seeking, cocky so and so, they just want to let you know they’re around. Which is nice.
So they liked your profile picture and now you think you’re ready to move in and have kids. Erm, maybe not. But if they often initiate things over social networking sites, give you the odd retweet here and there or ask random questions via text it could be signalling a slight crush, so you might want to consider making a move.
And, of course, if they poke you they may as well have painted 'I want to make babies with you' on their foreheads.
4.) Watch out
When someone likes you, they’ll nearly always watch you from far away, especially when you’re with your own friends and oblivious to anyone else who’s around. Here’s how to catch them out: if you’re laughing at a joke, turn around quickly and catch their eye immediately.
You may just find them staring at you with a beaming smile plastered on their face because they’re probably laughing with you in their mind. Plus, when you’re attracted to someone, you tend to instinctively copy their behaviour without even realising it.
When you sit back, they do. If he decides to down his drink, so will you. And that is usually the start of a beautiful romance anyway...
If you feel exhausted by the end of this article, it might just be easier and a lot less effort to simply ask the person in question whether they want to get it on or not. The worst that can happen is they’ll say no and you’re forced to indulge in a tub of Ben and Jerry’s. Not all bad then, eh?
