This is what happens when you order a plain cheeseburger from McDonald's

No pattie on the back for you, Ronald.

No one expects great things from the Golden Arches. As long as it’s open after we stagger out of whichever establishment we have chosen to spend our evening in, accepts our hard-earned money, and serves edible goods – we’ll thank it and be on our merry way.

However, when Alex Moran, an ordinary burger lover from Bradford, ordered a plain cheeseburger from a McDonald's in Leeds and received just a slice of cheese in a bun - he felt it had gone too far.

Some of us don’t like pickles, some of us hate tomatoes and some of us don’t want our buns smothered in ketchup – each to their own. However, what unites most McDonald's customers is their love of a burger.

A pattie to be precise.

So surely, when someone orders a ‘plain cheeseburger’, one of the most important things to remember is the actual burger part.

Alex told The Sun: "I couldn't believe it. The first thing I did was show one of my work friends who immediately started laughing. I didn't take it back because I didn't have enough time left on my lunch. I was a bit annoyed at first but saw the humour in it."

Poor form McDonalds, we (literally) expected more from you.
